It's a Shame 04:28
Did you ever imagine we'd be living this way? Can't find no satisfaction, used up for a pocket full of change. What is everyone after anyway, always looking for answers in pretty things? We were always the dreamers, happy just to follow the breeze, but we get sidetracked chasing convenience when it's easier to read. So what is everyone after anyway, always looking for answers in pretty things? Well I've been thinking it's a state of mind, that we've been falling on these hard times. Don't have to tell me, it's a shame I'm wasting away. All my emotions are a shadow of the times before. Honey was sweeter when we'd eat it from the tree and it's a long way back for more. But don't you give up on me that easy, I've been looking for you to say that I want to see the world! I want to take a chance. I want to feel it all and hold it in my hands. I want to see you smile, I want to make you laugh! It's been a little while, do you remember what we had? And did you ever imagine we'd be living this way? Well I've been thinking it's a state of mind, that we've been falling on these hard times. Don't have to tell me, it's a shame I'm wasting away. And I've been thinking it's a way of life, always falling on these hard times. Don't have to tell me, it's a shame I'm wasting away. So won't you say it with me, and if you feel it with me, then maybe we could stop these hearts from breaking.

Fortune takes forever to get right, and I've never had the patience to be the fortunate type. I still try my hand from time to time, but this world revolves for those with all the biggest dollar signs, and anyone who tells you different lies – but that's alright. Cause I just want to be something you like; forget about the easy way around it. Tell me what you need and I'll provide, and I won't ever stop until I've found it. It's a long ride. Fame is held up lofty as a king, and most of us can only watch in wonder what it brings. I don't claim to have the world upon a string, but I feel almost famous when I know you're listening. I'm happy just to have you next to me – it's all I need. I may never be out living life like royalty, but I've got friends I know would never leave my side. And you may never see me looking out through your TV, but you still know my face, so everything's alright; that suits me fine.

23 times 'round the sun, and my life's still a mystery. I'd give all the air in my lungs just to have it make sense to me. I've always assumed it was under control, but now the spin of the earth has been taking its toll on me. So nauseous and dizzy, I send up a prayer: You're the only one who knows me, and I'm not sure you're even really there. Could you show yourself? I want to live where the innocent sleep, where the powers of men have no sway. But it's only 'cause I'm selfish and I'd rather be set free than make a change.
